Walks in the Te Paki Farm Park

CAPE REINGA - TAPOTUPOTU BAY
This walk conunenses at Cape Reinga near the car park and decends steeply to Sandy Bay. A steep climb up the other side of the bay via the coastal ridge and keeping near to the cliff will bring you to Tapotupotu Bay. Allow 2 hours.
There is road access to Tapotupotu Bay.

TAPOTUPOTU BAY - TE PAKI TRIG
Upstream from the Bay, cross the stream, (best done at low tide) and take coastal ridge. After about 1 hours walk the track goes inland via Darkies Ridge, joins the Pandora Track and reaches a gate at the end of a partly metalled track. A side track continues to Te Paki Trig 310m above sea level. Remains of a wartime radar station are evident and there are extensive views. Allow 3.5 hours.

TE PAKI - PANDORA - SPIRITS BAY
From Te Paki Trig, return to the gate and proceed down track to Pandora Beach. If tide permits, take seaward route around rocks to western end of Spitis Bay or alteniatively take route above the rocks. Continue along beach or along sandbills to Spirits Bay camp site.
From Sprirts Bay the road goes back to SH1 at Waitiki Landing.
Allow 5 hours.

TWILIGHT BEACH - 90 MILE BEACH
Continue along Twilight Beach to the Southern end to marker - 1 hour. Follow undulating old vehicle track over Scott Point following markers. Track decends to 90 Mile Beach - 1.5 hours.

CAPE REINGA -TE WERAHI BEACH - SCHEDULE OF WALKING TIMES - MAIN ROAD
A walk of 3 hours from Cape Reinga along Te Werahi Beach to the Southern end then back across the sand dunes to the Cape Reinga end of road at Te Werahi Gate.

CAPE REINGA - CAPE MARIA VAN
A walk of 5.5 hours from Cape Reinga along to Te Werahi Beach  then up over the sand dunes to  to a sign - Cape Maiia van Dieman. Back at  the sign retrace steps to the Southern end of Te Werahi Beach then across to the Te Werahi Gate.

TE WERAHI GATE - TE WERAHI BEACH - TWILIGHT BEACH & RETURN
From Te Werahi Gate a track through the paddock leads to a stile. From the stile die track crosses  the swamp by boardwalk then over the sand dunes  to the Southern end of Te Werahi Beach. Follow the markers Southward over the sand dunes then along the coast line to the Northern end of Twilight Beach. From the beach a marked track leads back to the  stile and then to the Te Werahi Gate.

TE WERAHI GATE - TE WERAIII BEACH - CAPE MARIA VAN DIEMAN & RETURN
From Te Werahi Gate a track through the paddock to Southern end of 90 Mile Beach leads to a stile. From the stile the track crosses the swamp by boardwalk then over the sand dunes to the Southern end of Te Werahi Beach. Follow the markers over the sand dunes to a sign - Cape Maria van Dieman.
Round trip 5 hours.

• Waitiki Landing is the last place to purchase Provisions & Petrol.
• WATER: Available at Sandy Bay, Tapotupotu, Paiidora and Spirits Bay. Water at both ends of Te Werahi & Twilight Beach and Scott Point should be boiled.
• Adequate preparation needed for tramping beach portion as there are no huts. There is a seperate pamphlet for camping.
• From Te Paki Stream the walkway follows 90 Mile Beach which may be left at the Bluff - 19km, Hukatere - 51 km, Waipapakauri - 69km, and Ahipara - 83km.

• Please ensure you close all gates and do not disturb any stock.
