Timber Enterprises sawmill is located on a freehold property 12 km
north-east of Kaitaia. The sawmill occupies over 1 hectare of flat land
and has operated from the same site for over 40 years. It has good road
access and is close to major forests and log supplies.
The sawmill comprises three buildings and the necessary access and storage
yards. Buildings house the timber mill, drying area and
workshop-office-staff facilities.
The owners have reached a time in their life where they wish to retire and
travel and it is for this reason that they are selling the sawmill. Timber
Enterprises Ltd has long-term log supplies, a well organised sawmill with
properly maintained plant and equipment, trained staff and established
markets.
The sawmill at Timber Enterprises is organised to maximise timber
throughput. Logs are loaded on to the log chain, moved to the pneumatic
log carriage with Jaymore setworks and then passed through the Stenner
bandsaw head rig. From there, large flitches may go to the 12 blade frame
saw and smaller flitches to the breast bench and docking saw, then through
the anti-sapstain sprayer and out on to the carousel table for grading,
selection and packaging.
Timber is dried in the open air or in the drying sheds, or sold as green
sawn. Slabs go to the hogger-chipper. There is also a good local market for
chips, sawdust and firewood.
The mill produces approximately 16 cubic metres of sawn timber per day.
Timber produced from the Timber Enterprises sawmill is exported (clear
timber to USA, Australia and Asia), trucked to Whangarei and Auckland
(where there are good framing markets) or sold locally to a long-standing
customer for housing supply and export.
Timber Enterprises are selling all of the assets required in the
day-to-day operation of the sawmill including the freehold of the
property.
Freehold land: 1.080 hectares and three buildings - sawmill, two
timber drying sheds, multi-purpose building with lunch room, office,
toilet and workshop-sawshop.

Zealand and is an excellent base for exploring the Far North with its rich
Maori and European history. Tourism is an important industry with
numerous scenic tours by air, land or sea. The most popular trip is along
the sweeping sands of Ninety Mile Beach to Cape Reinga, the country's
northernmost point. Kaitaia has a good shopping centre with cafes,
restaurants, museum and schools.
Other local industries are forestry,
dairying, sheep and dry stock farming, sub-tropical horticulture, and
